1. The 70% calculation is based on a £9,310 system (8x505W panels, 5kWh battery, south-facing 35 (degree) London roof, 26.35p/kWh unit rate, 0.15p/kWh export). MCS estimates 3975kWh/year, covering 70% of a typical 3,500kWh households needs, saving £37,602 over 25 years.
2. The 1.4p per mile calculation is based on the Tesla Model 3 RWD because it was the UK’s second best-selling vehicle in 2024. The Tesla Model 3 RWD has an EV efficiency of 220 Wh/mile (or 0.22 kWh/mile). Multiplying 0.22 by So EV’s off-peak rate of 6.5p per kWh results in the cost of 1.43p per mile (which we can round down to 1.4p per mile).
