The Warm Home Discount is a government scheme designed to help with energy costs. If you’re eligible, we’ll add £150 to your energy account to help reduce your bills.
The scheme runs from September 2026 through to March 2027. We aim for all eligible customers to get their £150 energy credit by the end of March 2027.
If you joined So Energy after 23 August 2026, your previous supplier will still give you the rebate (if they’re part of the scheme), even though you’re no longer with them
If your energy supplier went out of business, please contact the supplier that took over (as part of the Supplier of Last Resort Process) for more information.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will send letters to people who are eligible, or may be eligible. If the DWP need more information to find out if you're eligible, you’ll be asked to contact the WHD Helpline.
However, receiving a letter is not a requirement to apply for the Core Group. If you think you're eligible, you can apply on the WHD Helpline on when it opens later this year. Please visit the Government's Warm Home Discount page for further information.
The Warm Home Discount credit is applied by your electricity supplier, but if you also have gas with that suppier, the credit could be used for either bill.
Broader Group applications for homes in Scotland will open later this year. We'll update our website when the Broader Group is live, so please check back. Look out for the Warm Home Discount button in your online account to apply.

You'll need to be a So Energy customer to apply for the Broader group scheme with us.
If you’re not currently a customer you can switch your energy to us and apply for the scheme if you’re eligible. If you’re looking to switch to us please remember there are a limited number of applications each year, and they're awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
We'll be reviewing applications throughout the scheme, and will provide email confirmation once your application has been reviewed.
Please make sure to check your emails regularly, as we may need more information to progress your application. You can log in to your online account at any time to see an update on the status of your application.
Applications for 2026/2027 will receive their credit by 31st March 2027. Please note that you will need to be on supply with So Energy to receive the credit.
