Solar batteries enable you to store surplus energy when your solar panels produce more electricity than you need. This stored energy can then be used during times of lower solar generation, such as nighttime or cloudy days. By using stored energy, you draw less power from the grid, leading to reduced reliance on utility-supplied electricity and ultimately lower energy bills.
Solar batteries play a crucial role in optimising your solar energy system. They allow you to store excess energy generated by your solar panels during the day and use it during the evenings or cloudy periods. This means you can rely less on the grid, increase self-consumption of solar energy, and enhance your overall energy independence.
Yes, home batteries can be configured to provide backup power when the grid goes down. Tesla Powerwall 3 includes the Tesla Gateway, which automatically isolates your home and switches to battery in a power cut for a seamless supply to either essential circuits or, if designed that way, the whole home. Our Duracell Dura 5 and Fox ESS EP series can also provide backup when installed with a Critical Load Circuit, a minor change to your Consumer Unit (CCU) to be organised by the customer pre/post our install. Runtime depends on what you choose to power, your battery size and whether your solar can recharge the system during daylight. Tell us your priorities and we’ll design the right backup setup.
Absolutely. All systems we install come with remote monitoring so you can see live power flows, battery charge level, solar generation and household consumption, plus view history and alerts. Tesla Powerwall 3 uses the Tesla app, Duracell and Fox ESS systems connect to their own apps. We set this up at commissioning and can provide remote support if needed.
All the batteries we supply are suitable for outdoor installation, which is our and the industries recommendation. Indoor installation is available if you sign a waiver. Tesla Powerwall 3 is flood-proof; Duracell Dura 5 and Fox ESS EP units are IP65 rated for weather resistance. All models can be wall-mounted, and floor stands are available if your wall construction or layout calls for it. We’ll confirm the best location during your site survey, taking into account clearances, ventilation and cable runs.
