So Energy Merges with ESB Energy

An exciting update on the future of So Energy with our new partners ESB Energy!

We founded So Energy in 2015 because we could see that people weren’t happy with their energy suppliers. Customers were paying too much for dirty energy backed by poor service, and we knew it didn’t have to be that way. So Energy was launched as a technology-led supplier of renewable energy with the customer at heart, and it’s for that reason that we were a 2020 Which? Recommended supplier and we’ve topped the Citizens Advice rankings for customer service more often than any other supplier in the UK.

Crucially, we’re here to make green energy accessible, affordable and as frictionless as possible as we work towards our goal of enabling net zero living for our customers. We’ve been doing this not only with our tariffs, but also our first-of-a-kind, full-service solar packages and upcoming developments in our electric vehicle (EV) offering.

Now, we’re ready to take the next step on the road in our journey, and we’re thrilled to have an incredible company joining us, as we can announce that So Energy is joining forces with ESB Energy to become the UK’s next big green energy supplier.

ESB Energy brings with it the backing of 90+ years of experience and expertise from Ireland and the UK, already supplying customers in British homes as well as being EV pioneers, knowledge vital to any ambitious green supplier. By merging with ESB Energy, we’re gaining access to that experience, as well as resources we simply wouldn’t have been able to benefit from prior to today.

In return, as majority shareholder in So Energy, ESB Energy gains the opportunity to work with the So Energy brand, our experience in the market, our excellent customer service and the same technology-led, customer-at-heart approach that got us to where we are today.

This merger combines a total of over 300,000 customers, a significant boost in the number of people to whom we proudly supply renewable energy.

If you’re a So Energy customer, you won’t notice any changes and you have nothing to worry about. Your supply will remain the same, your statements will continue to come from us and your prices won’t change as a result of this merger.

We couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead, and we’ll have further updates in the near future about what’s next!
