I had a very positive experience

I had a very positive experience with the So Energy agent Aude, who handled my enquiry. I was concerned because my Building Regulations certificate described the EV charger installation under the photovoltaic-system category. She listened carefully, understood exactly what I was asking, checked the matter with the relevant colleague and provided a clear explanation confirming that the certificate was correct. She was helpful, professional and reassuring throughout. Excellent customer service—thank you.

Well from the moment we applied

Well from the moment we applied for the solar and ev charger on the phone with Jordon , to be installed I can honestly say it was a 5 star performance from the electrical engineer Sagar and his wife to the 2 men that put the panels on the roof, they were all so helpful, they all cleaned up after.Sagar even spent over an hour helping us to download all relevant apps, and showed us how to use them. They were a credit to So Energy you are very lucky to have such dedicated staff.I have and will recommend So Energy to all friends and family. Thank you

Are electric cars better for the environment?

Learn how EVs are better for the environment, even when factoring in manufacturing costs. We also share important considerations for charging your EV.

1. The 1.7p per mile calculation is based on the Tesla Model Y, which has an EV efficiency of 4.5 miles per kWh. Dividing the So EV off peak rate of 7.5p by the 4.5 efficiency (between the hours of midnight and 5am) results in the cost of 1.67p per mile (which we round up to 1.7p per mile). We use the Tesla Model Y because it was the UK's best-selling car in 2025.
2. The 600 miles for under £10 calculation is based on a Tesla Model Y efficiency rating of 4.5 miles per kWh. Actual efficiency varies depending on EV make and model, seasonal conditions, driving style, and charging rate. Our estimate uses the So EV charging rate of 7.5p per kWh, offered between 12am and 5am. The precise calculation is 599 miles for £9.98.
3. A public Rapid charger costs EV drivers, on average, £0.79 per kWh. So Energy’s off-peak tariff rate is 7.5p per kWh. Calculations: So Energy off-peak cost per mile of 1.7p and public Rapid charging cost per mile of 17.6p show that you’ll save 91% versus public charging when combining your charger with our EV tariff.
4. The 68% savings claim vs charging on a standard variable tariff is based on our So Flex electricity unit rate of £0.234 per kW vs the So EV electricity unit rate of £0.075 per kW.
